    Caractéristiques

    La via ferrata du Mont Kinabalu comporte deux voies : Low’s Peak Circuit (LPC) Assez difficile pour les +17 ans et pour les débutants tu as la Walk the Torq (dès 10 ans).

    Elles sont aménagées le long des parois de granite du Mont Kinabalu.

    Il te faudra 4 et 5 heures pour la voie intermédiaire qui récompensera les efforts des plus courageux par une vue époustouflante sur les sommets alentour et 2-3 heurs pour la Walk the Torq.

    Il s'agit de la via ferrata la plus haute du monde à 3,776 m.

     

    Conseils ViaFerrata

    Comme tu peux l'imaginer, il te faut de bons habits chauds car tu es assez haut. Comme il y a beaucoup de contacts avec les rochers, de bonnes chausses et d'excellentes lunettes de soleil.

    Réserve avant d'y aller car il n'y a pas toujours de la place.

    Obligation de la faire avec l'opérateur du lieu.

    Par la route

    Tu peux louer une voiture dans une agence de location. La via ferrata de Mountain Torq se trouve à 88 km de Kota Kinabalu ou à 1h30 avec les transports publics.

     

    Avec le Bus ou le taxi

    Avec le Bus, tu le prends à Kundasang ou au Terminal de Bus Nord à Ranau. Tu trouves des bus de Kota Kinabalu à Ranau durant la journée.
    Pour revenir à Kota Kinabalu, tu prends le bus à Kinabalu Park (reconfirme le tout au guichet de Kinabalu Park) pour Kota Kinabalu.

    Par taxi, tu prends le  Ranau taxi à côté du Merdeka Field ou tu le demandes à ton hôtel. Si tu vas à la station de taxi de Rana, le tarif est bien plus avantageux que si tu le prends à ton hôtel.
    Pour le retour à Kota Kinabalu, prends le bus de Poring Hot Springs à Ranau. De Ranau town, trouve un taxi pour te ramener à Kota Kinabalu.

    Accès

    Pour arriver à Pendant Hut à 3'289m. tu as droit à une ballade de 6 km dans une forêt sub-alpine. La cabane possède un espace pour 30 personnes dans des dortoires. Il vaut mieux réserver avant.

     

    Via Ferrata

    Le Low’s Peak Circuit atteint  3,776 m  et ce parcours est un peu plus physique, mais sans être trop violent. Tu traverses des dales rocheuses ainsi que 2 ponts de singe et une passerelle. Tu comptse 4-6 heures pour les 1,2 km. La passerelle se trouve à 3'600 m d'altitude. Tu rejoinds la Walk the Torq.

    Walk the Torq débute à 3,521 m et fait une boucle. C'est essentiellement une via pour les débutants et pour avoir un peu de fun durant les vacances. (+10 ans)

    Dans tous les cas, tu dois avoir un guide avec toi que tu réserves avec l'opérateur. Si tu as de l'expérience, tu peux éviter d'installer une corde.

    Ton chemin repasse par la Pendant Hut.

    Caracteristics

    Two via ferrata: Low’s Peak Circuit (LPC) Mid-Difficult and for the beginners: Walk the Torq (10 years old).

    Must be over 17 years old for the LPC.

    If you have climbed Mt. Kinabalu before, you really need to climb it all over again, just so that you can attempt The Low’s Peak Circuit! Traversing the mountain in this manner means that you get to see an entirely different and immensely beautiful side of the mountain plateau that the current summit trail will never have the chance to reveal to you.

    The Low’s Peak Circuit is a Via Ferrata route situated at 3,776 m above sea level and and the highest Via Ferrata in the World. Designed for the brave and the active individual with above-average fitness levels, this 4 – 6 hour route with an optional summit attempt includes rest stops at scenic locations.

     

    Suggestions

    Have your reservation in hand before you go. Take good warm clothes (weather changes fast). Good shoes, gloves and sun glasses.

    By Car

    Visitors can also rent a car and drive by themselves. Cars can be rented either directly from car rental companies or requested via hotel lobby car rental service. Rental charge is from RM180 and above per car/ day. Please refer to car rental list for more information.

    The Mountain Torq Via Ferrata is 88 kilometers away from Kota Kinabalu, or 1 hour and 30 minutes away by road transportation.

     

    By Bus or Taxi

    By bus, visitors can take a bus headed to Kundasang or Ranau at the City Bus Terminal (North). Buses from Kota Kinabalu to Ranau are available.

    To return to Kota Kinabalu, take a bus across road outside Kinabalu Park (reconfirm with Kinabalu Park reception counter) headed to Kota Kinabalu.

    By taxi, visitors can take the Ranau taxi at the Ranau taxi stand (next to the Merdeka Field) or request from the hotel lobby. From Ranau Taxi station, taxi fare charged is RM160 per taxi; while from hotel lobby, taxi fare charged is RM300 per taxi.

    For a return trip to Kota Kinabalu, take a bus from Poring Hot Springs to Ranau town. From Ranau town, find a taxi back to Kota Kinabalu.

    Access

    To arrive at Mountain Torq’s Pendant hut (3,289m) from where the adventure starts, you need to hike up about 6 km through tropical and sub-alpine forests

    Pendant Hut can accommodate at least 30 people at one time, with a dormitory-bunk bed type.

    Make sure you have a reservation and you have to use the local operator to climb it

     

    Via Ferrata

    The Low’s Peak Circuit reaches at 3,776 m and it’s designed for adventure seekers with climbing experience and above-average fitness levels. It is not very difficult but challenging. You touch the rocks and you cross a long footbridges.

    The 4-6 hours route has a length of 1.2 km and a vertical height traverse of 365m, with one of the world’s highest suspension bridge (at 3,600m above sea level).

    Walk the Torq is placed at 3,521 m and it is a much easier route, designed for begginers (with minimum age of 10 years)

    In both case, you must have a guide. If you are experienced, you can ask to remove the rope.
